Assignment 4

The article said that a 15 year old girl named Phoebe Prince had commited suicide as a result of cyberbullying. There was factual information in this article. It implied that almost anyone can be cyberbullied, by anyone, for any reason. This girl particularly was cyberbullied because of a relationship she had with a guy. Yes there was a couple kids that were blamed for the cyberbullying that had occured. There was three main kids. Two guys, one 18 and one 17. There was also a 17 year old girl who was a main person. Other than them, there were two groups of girls, three girls in each group, that also cyberbullied Phoebe. CNN seems to think that there was a third guy involved but they're not sure yet. This article does not say anything about a specific website where the bullying occured. The kids that bullied this girl did not do it because of her age, gender, or race. It was only because of another guy that she had a relationship with.

Assignment 3

In the video, the "Dad Ghost" basically tells Tiger not to cheat on his wife. He also say "I did not cheat on your mother. Then again, I wasn't a rich, successful, golf superstar." After that he asks Tiger why he would cheat on his wife. Then he talks about how Jesus looks. Only part of this video was about Tiger cheating on his wife. The part that was did make SOME sense. Other parts didn't. "Ghost Dad" is a movie from 1990 about "A father's encounter with the supernatural teaches him a valuable lesson about keeping in touch with his children." It was produced by Stanley G. Robertson, Terry Nelson, and David Wisnievitz. I think the parody was critcizing Tiger in a way because it said that he shouldn't cheat on his wife, but then it implied that it was okay becasue he was rich and famous. This particular parody was meant to address Tiger himself because it was specifically talking to him and not anyone else.

Assignment 2

The article basically says that Tiger Woods cheated on his wife with three main women and then some less important ones. I don't know the whole story behind this insident because I'm not really into professional sports so It didn't really concern me. But, from what I have heard, the story didn't talk much about the car accident and how that happened. I would kind of like to know that. The only factual information that I knew the story had in it was his wife wasn't happy about it, Tiger cheated on her with more than one woman, there was a car accident, and that Tiger and the president aren't caucasian. The story implies that American is fasinated with "Big News". Another thing it implies is that golf would be nothing without Tiger Woods and that if he retired, no one would watch golf anymore. The story talks about past professional golfers and that people liked them alot. Gender seemed to be an issue with the old boss considering that he got kind of anxious when he thought that women were now allowed to be members of the Augusta National. At the end of the article, when the boss found out that Tiger Woods was black, he got a spasm and started twitching. Then, the messenger decided not to tell him that the president was also black. All I know about golf is that, in the past black people were not allowed to play in big golfing tournaments and now they are allowed to play.

Assignment #1

The New Media that I seem to use the most would be YouTube.com. I use YouTube alot to look up music videos or lyrics of my favorite songs. Another thing I use YouTube for if finding new songs. I usually get on YouTube whenever I'm using the computer for my homework and I want to listen to music. Sometimes, I listen to music on YouTube when I'm talking to my friends on another website suck as Myyearbook.com. I don't get on YouTube everyday. I only use it once in awhile when I need something to do to keep me from being bored out of my mind. I think that Youtube can mislead people by telling them the wrong information. It's very easy for people to change or add things onto Youtube and that changes the informational options that you can find. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YouTube (Social impact). Here is an example of a video that I would watch on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eH2OkPf4rMI. Although there is alot of bad, incorrect information on YouTube, there is also alot of good, correct information.
